FW Partner Spotlight: Watergate Gallery

The Watergate Gallery is currently featuring an exhibition of photographs by Alexander Vasiljev. Vasiljev traveled to a remote part of the Amazonas Department in Peru to photograph landscapes and specifically the unique Wax Palm Forest. This forest contains some of the tallest palm trees in the world, reaching up to 200 feet high. This looks like a good show for all aficionados of exotic landscape and travel photography!

FOTOWEEKDC has brought the art of photography to the awareness of many people and given Watergate Gallery a wonderful opportunity to showcase the work of Alexander (Sasha) Vasiljev  in the last 3 years as he explores new subject matter.  I am pleased to have welcomed so many new people to the gallery who have come to see Sasha’s work after having read about Watergate Gallery’s exhibits on the FOTOWEEKDC webpage.   Thanks to Theo Adamstein for coming up with the brilliant idea of FOTOWEEK and for his hard work promoting it so that it has grown and taken on a new dimension over the years.” — Dale Johnson,  Watergate Gallery

This looks to be a vivid and atmospheric show from a FotoWeek veteran photographer and gallery! Those of you with a keen memory may recall Vasiljev’s photographs at Watergate Gallery during past FotoWeeks, in 2009 and 2010. In Mystify, he continues his exploration of landscape and nature’s luminous and ephemeral characteristics.
