#WorldFightsAIDS Photo Contest
Deadline August 11:
PhotoPhilanthropy and The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) are excited to announce the World Fights AIDS Photo  Contest on Instagram. They are seeking photos from across the globe that resonate with the mission of EGPAF, the global leader in the fight to end AIDS.
Your assignment: Every community across the world has at least one unsung hero or grassroots organization working to eradicate this epidemic or ease the suffering of those who live with it. Share a photograph on Instagram of a group or individual in your community who is fighting against HIV/AIDS. The winning photographer will receive the Grand Prize of $1,000 USD.

FolioLink - "72 Grams Per Pixel" is a group exhibition by seven fine art photographers many with ties to the Corcoran College of Art and Design. The title playfully indicates the idea behind the exhibition to explore photographic images using a variety of mediums including prints, hand-made photo books, table-prints and a newly developed multi-screen display system. The gallery show is sponsored by ISProductions, the publisher of the popular FolioLink website service for artists and photographers.

National Press Club - Marc Levoy, VMware Founders Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University, will speak on Google Glass and the Future of Photography at the National Press Club at Noon, Monday, May 12th. Levoy teaches computer graphics, digital photography, and the science of art at Stanford. He's also been involved in many projects at Google (including Google Street View and the Google book scanner). He took a leave of absence from Stanford in 2011-13 to pursue work at Google, including on Google Glass.  Levoy is also an accomplished photographer. Speaking as an individual and not a representative of Google, he will talk about Google Glass and the Future of Photography. REGISTER NOW!

The Pulitzer Center Film Festival ends this Thursday! Be sure to check out their films & talks taking place at the West End Cinema (2301 M st. NW).

The National Museum of African Artpresents Through the Lens of Roger Ballen. The exhibit shows Roger Ballen's black and white film images of rural Afrikaners and "outsiders" in South Africa. A free exhibit on view through February 9, 2014.

The American University Museum has a great exhibit going on - Rothfeld Collection of Contemporary Israeli Artdonated by Donald Rothfeld, on view through October 20, 2013. Selections from the extensive collection chronicle Israel’s history and include the work of numerous prominent and emerging Israeli artists, including Uri Aran, Yael Bartana, Tsibi Geva, Moshe Kupferman, Siglat Landau, Elad Lassry, and Michal Rovner.

Unjuried exhibits more your speed? Try Washington's first FotoBazaar. Space for 250 exhibitors in a 25,000 sq ft space generously provided by JBG companies. The space is yours to do with as you wish, but exposure is guaranteed during an open exhibit, Oct 4-5. And if you're picked as one of our five favorites, your images will join the National Geographic courtyard exhibit. 


New Partnership: We're excited to announce that we will be partnering with Squarespace for FotoWeek! THE INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE OF CONSERVATION PHOTOGRAPHERS (iLCP) is presenting "Into the Unseen Himalaya" with Sandesh Kadur, iLCP Fellow and National Geographic Emerging Explorer. The event will take place at the Carnegie Institution for Science located at 1530 P Street NW, Washington, DC 20005 on Wednesday, September 25th at 6pm. A VIP Reception will be held from 6pm - 7pm, followed by a presentation from 7:15pm - 8:15pm and book signing from 8:15pm - 9pm.  

THE HILLYER ART SPACE invites artists in all media and subject matter to its current Open Call for Artists for the 2014 - 2015 exhibition season and will accept submissions until November 22, 2013.

One of the images included in the series won the Portrait Category in Paris Prix de la Photographie and was exhibited in Paris.
