ICE-DC TO HOST PHOTO CONTEST: Photographers and Instagrammers Invited to Tour the Franklin School During FotoWeekDC
The Institute for Contemporary Expression – DC (ICE-DC) announces an open photography contest, launching in partnership with FotoWeekDC! On Saturday, November 8—during the first weekend of FotoWeek—ICE-DC invites photographers and Instagrammers to tour the former Franklin School and future home of ICE at 925 13th Street NW, between I Street NW and K Street NW.
Participants will take and post photographs from the interior and exterior of the historic building, capturing architectural details, nooks and crannies of the space, and characteristics of the building in its current state prior to renovation.
During the shoot, participants are encouraged to post to Instagram using hashtag #ICEDC and tagging ICE’s Instagram @ICEWashingtonDC.
Following the shoot, photographers are asked to submit their best images to be considered for a future exhibition at ICE. Images of the “before” ICE-DC will be presented in an exhibition at the “after” ICE, following the commencement of building renovations in late 2015.
A panel of judges comprised of photography curators and experts will formally select the works of the winning artist to be included in the exhibition. A selection of Instagram images will also be awarded a place in the exhibition.
By registering on the ICE website, photographers and Instagrammers are able to sign-up to tour and shoot at the building, with designated entry slots on the hour between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
