National Geographic: #YourShotMeetup DC
Help us kick off DC FotoWeek with a #YourShotMeetup! We've been hosting meetups across North America and now we're headed back to Your Shot's hometown to meet you for a photo walk in our beautiful city.
We'll kick off on Saturday, November 8 at 9:30 a.m. in the courtyard at National Geographic headquarters. We'll take a few minutes to check in and introduce you to your fellow Your Shot members, Your Shot's editors, and our photo walk guides: photographer and National Geographic's General Manager for digital Keith Jenkins, photojournalist for the Washington Post and Director of WPOW Sarah Voisin, Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer and Deputy Director of Photography for National Geographic magazine Ken Geiger, and photojournalist and contributor to Time Magazine Brooks Kraft.
At 10 a.m., we'll break out into groups and explore DC on photo walks. We'll fan out into different neighborhoods around town, where you'll have the opportunity to trade tips and inspiration with other members and learn from the pros as you shoot together. We'll end at noon, and you can head out right from your photo walk location to get on with your weekend.
Attendance is free for Your Shot members, and participants will also get free admission to FotoWeekDC's official closing party on November 15!
Please note: You must be a member of Your Shot to participate in this event. Not a member yet? You can sign up for free at yourshot.nationalgeographic.com and create your gallery in a matter of minutes. Make sure to include the link to your Your Shot gallery on your registration order form so other members can check out your work in advance.
Don't forget to bring: Your camera and comfortable walking shoes, plus any other gear you may need for a two-hour photo walk, such as tripods, spare batteries, lenses, camera bags, etc. This event will be held outside, rain or shine, so please dress for the weather.
If the event is already sold out but you'd like to attend, please put your name on the waitlist. If attendees cancel, the waitlist will open and you'll be sent instructions on how to reserve your spot. If you can't join us for this meetup, don't worry: we'll keep you in the loop about future opportunities to connect with photographers in DC.
