“Under the Same Stars (Ulluriat ataanittuinnait)” was photographed during Acacia Johnson's four month residence on the north shore of Baffin Island, this community-focused perspective provides an intimate glimpse of life in the Canadian Arctic.

Originally from Alaska, Johnson is a recent graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and is now based somewhere between Norway and the polar seas. Using a large-format view camera and color film, she has pursued projects across Alaska, Iceland, northern Scandinavia, Greenland and the Canadian Arctic. She has exhibited her photographs internationally and has pieces included in collections at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum and the Smithsonian Museum of American History.

Under the Same Stars is curated by National Geographic photo editor Kim Hubbard.
