Wild Anacostia: Finding a future for Washington DC's forgotten river
Krista Schlyer is an award-winning photographer and writer focusing on conservation, biodiversity and public lands. The Anacosta was once a pristine river ecosystem, but after years decades of deforestation, agricultural and urban runoff and toxic industry caused the Anacostia to diminish until it became one of the nation’s most denuded river ecosystems. Krista Schlyer has been working for the past 5 years to document the birds, bats, salamanders and beavers of this resilient watershed, as well as the champions and challenges that will decide its fate.
