Everyone’s a photographer. The cameras built into iPhones and other smartphones are getting better with each new release, and powerful apps make it easy to apply effects to photographs that used to take a lot of work for film photographers and printers.

In this show, we walk back from Michael K. Wilkinson’s recent instant-gratification iPhone/Instagram work (IMPULSE), through his “36 shots per roll” photographs shot on 35mm film from 1997-2002 (PATIENCE), all the way to “one-chance” large-format photographs from world-famous architectural photographer Julius Shulman (1910-2009) and current Baltimore photographer Adam Davies (DISCIPLINE). Wilkinson is also showing a set of digital photographs taken of the ground glass of his 8x10 Sinar view camera (HYBRID). Because he is an architectural photographer, there is a definite architectural slant to all of the photographs in the show. Made possible through the generosity of Wiebenson & Dorman Architects PC and JT Roy.
