This exhibition features the work of documentary photographers turning the “lens” towards a personal project of their family, surroundings, or themselves. BILL CRANDALL’s “Fairy Tales from the Fault Lines”project is a dream-like vision of DC neighborhoods away from the monuments. Taking an unexpectedly poetic view of life in the changing urban landscape, he reveals the shifting central “fault lines” of a long-divided city. GABRIELA BULISOVA, collaborates with her husbandMARK ISAAC in a long-term project titled “Returns,” which explores the experience of returning once a year to her family’s home in a small village in Slovakia that focus’ on her mother’s attempts to cope with the loss of her husband. LESLY DESCHLER CANOSSI’s ongoing series “Domestic Negotiations” reflects upon the demands of marriage, motherhood and creative work. Revealed are emotions and tenderness of a family while trying to preserve the raw and delicate nature of relationships. Public reception Friday, November 18, 7-9pm
