FotoFilm: 'From The Study on Post-Pubescent Manhood'

  • Former Residence of the Spanish Ambassador 2801 16th Street Northwest Washington, DC, 20009 United States (map)

From the Study of Post-Pubescent Manhood is a portrait of a young man coming of age in Nashville, Tennessee. It is a film about the relationship between subject and documenter. As a filmmaker, Stacy Kranitz knowingly exploits her subject glorifying and fetishizing his sexuality and youthful vitality. It is a documentary that publicly teeters on the line between pleasure and suffering, lust and adoration, friendship and fascism.

The film has been described by TIME as  “an intense, visceral and unglamorized engagement with a raw and elementary, almost primeval, world of adolescence, where young testosterone, adrenaline, and substance-fueled males partake in the recreational rituals of coming of age, while living life on the edge,”

Stacy Kranitz will discuss the film with Elizabeth Renstrom (VICE photo editor) immediately following the screening.
