The houses didn't move; the people who lived inside them did. And once the house was empty, it was emptied again, the entire interior of the building thrown in the dumpster. The insides become one person's trash and the shell of the building becomes another person's treasure. People being tossed out of the city to fill the land and landfill with 100 plus year-old wood and architectural detail. It’s very difficult to not call this progress. Beautiful houses that sit less than a mile from the U.S. Capitol are allowed to deteriorate and it seemed like nobody cared. The District of Columbia was primed for a hostile takeover.
