The Stamp Gallery
Located in the Adele H. Stamp Student Union at the University of Maryland, College Park, The Stamp Gallery is dedicated to the work of emerging and mid-career artists and curators. Through meaningful exhibitions and programming, the gallery supports contemporary art that is challenging, academically engaging, and attuned to broad community and social issues. The Stamp Gallery functions as a laboratory where artists and curators collaborate with student staff to work through new ideas. Programming emphasizes the importance of process and open dialogue to contemporary artistic practice.
The Stamp Gallery is home to a growing collection of contemporary art, acquired through a student-led Contemporary Art Purchasing Program (CAPP). Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the CAPP collection now encompasses more than 40 works of art by notable local and international artists. The collection is especially strong in the medium of photography, as represented in works by Shimon Attie, Edward Burtynsky, Nate Larson & Marni Shindelman, Nikki S. Lee, Annu Palakunnathu Matthew, Jefferson Pinder, Dulce Pinzón, and Barbara Probst.
